Fuseholders are protective devices that retain, protect, and mount fuses. They are available in various sizes and styles, each of which is designed to suit a specific fuse style. However, the two most basic fuse holders are open or fully enclosed. Fuse holders can be typically classified by their mounting type or attachment.

Types of Fuse Holders

Fuse holders may differ depending on the type of fuse it is designed to accommodate, the application, and the environment you will use. Some of the most common fuse holder types include:

Base Mount

The base of this holder is usually attached to a surface with the help of affixing screws in the centre of the base. Base mounts are commonly used with cartridge fuses.

Panel Mount

Panel mounts are specifically designed to mount onto or in the panel directly. Panel mount fuse holders usually come in two types that are rectangular snap-in types and cylindrical tube screw-in types. Such cap styles can be slotted, manual, or finger grip.

Inline

Inline fuse holders usually offer housing for a fuse in a wiring circuit. Usually, a cable or wire is attached at the end of the holder, which makes the inline connection much more accessible. These are often utilized in vehicle electrical circuits with mini blade fuses.

Rail Mount

Rail mount holders are mainly designed to be used with DIN rails, which means they always consist of a slot to attach somewhere in the fuse holder’s body. Rail mount fuse holders can differ according to properties such as current rating, voltage, terminal types, and several poles.

Bottle Fuse

Bottle fuses are designed explicitly for bottle fuses, usually utilized with a cap to complete the circuit.

PCB Mounts

PCB mounts are fuseholders that are directly fitted to a PCB. These are available in two common types that are open or fully enclosed. Open PCB mounts usually include fuse blocks, clips, sockets, and plug-on cap varieties. The fully enclosed type usually uses a fuse carrier that is typically inserted into a holder or may use other methods to enclose the circuits fully.
